August 27, 2020 (Elfashir) Ministry of Health and Social Development
in North Darfur revealed Thursday that dozens of people had been
infected with leishmaniasis skin disease in the Tebsa area of Tawila
locality, on the border strip between the states of North and Central
Darfur.

However, the Ministry of Health in South Darfur state previously
announced an outbreak of the disease in a number of areas east of
Jebel Marra, after the deterioration of health services in the area.

According to a member of the investigation team who visited the area,
Adam Seneen, the disease has spread widely among citizens in the area
and the neighboring villages.

Leishmaniasis is a disease caused by parasites of the Leishmania
type. It is spread by the bite of certain types of sandflies
