The United Nations Secretary-General expressed his deep concern about the tribal violence in West Darfur State, which took place on Saturday, between Arab and Masalit tribes, and led to the deaths of about 100 people and dozens of injuries.

According to a statement attributed to Stefan Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General, the UN chief is deeply concerned about the clashes in West Darfur over the weekend.

The statement added that the escalation of violence between components of society has led to dozens of deaths and injuries, the displacement of nearly fifty thousand people, and the destruction of property.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
