Darfur24-Port Sudan

Students have demonstrated Tuesday in the city of Port Sudan, the capital of Red Sea State, protesting over lack of food following a strike organized by the city’s bakers.

Angry students threw stones at government buildings, torched tires, and blocked main roads.

The striking Bakery owners demanded an increase in the price of bread from 2 pounds to 5 pounds in proportion to the increases that occurred in the prices of bread production inputs (yeast, gas, electricity, workers’ wages).
