. Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok issued a decree last May appointing  Minni Arko Minawi as governor of the Darfur region.

Minawi said in statements to Darfur 24 that he is awaiting the issuance of the Act that allows him to assume his duties as governor of Darfur region.

It is expected that the Council of Ministers will hold a session devoted to deliberation of the proposed Act.

However, the Darfur governor submitted a proposal for the regional structure of the government, which was also not approved by the Council of Ministers.

Minawi said he submitted a budget proposal for the remaining six months of the year amounting to $10 million .

The budget included items related to the completion of the ongoing projects and services, and the establishment of the regional government.
He added that the budget is in the process of being finalized in the Ministry of Finance.
