August 2, 2021 (Nyala) The Sudan Liberation Forces Movement (SLFM) on Monday offered an official apology to journalist Abdel Moneim Madbo for the incident of attacking him by members of its forces in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, on June 22, during a tour of the movement’s leaser , member of the Sovereign Council, Taher Hajar, to the states of Darfur.

Journalist Abdel Moneim Madbo, who works for Darfur 24electronic  newspaper, was arrested and tortured for more than 15 hours by members of the movement accompanying the member of the Sovereign Council, Taher Hajar. However, journalist Madibo had gone to film scenes of looting and destruction of the former UNAMID premises.

The armed struggle movement whose recently signed peace agreement with Khartoum said in a written apology, “It offers its sincere apology to the journalist Abdel Moneim Muhammad Madbo and to all media professionals and journalists in Darfur”.

The movement’s expresses its deep regret over the incident, and stating that the apology comes out of the movement’s belief in miscalculation and misbehavior taken by some of its affiliates.

The movement’s apology came after an initiative led by journalist Abu Obeida Awad, which resulted in continuous meetings for two days between the movement’s two generals, Ismail Abu and Mubarak Bakhit, and the journalist Abdel Moneim Madbo, in the presence of journalists and the Darfur Media and Journalists Association.
