October 12, 2021 (Nyala) The Family and Child Court in Nyala, South Darfur state , issued Tuesday , a death sentence by hanging and flogging 40 lashes against a soldier with the rank of corporal belonging to the armed forces after he was convicted of raping a nine-year-old girl in the Darbat area, east of Jebel Marra.
The court convicted the rapist of the girl under Article 45/b of the Sudanese Child Law 2010.
According to the investigation records, the crime occurred in the Darbat area of East Jebel Marra locality on January 7, when the girl and her younger sister went to fetch firewood.
