El-Daein- Jan. 13 (Darfur24) Shaeria locality police in East Darfur have arrested two policemen assigned to guard the market over the killing of a herder on Tuesday night.

The Executive Director of Shearia locality, Hassan Abdel Rahim, said that the security situation is still tense between the armed herders and the city police, despite the presence of mediation by the Misseriya tribe seeking to reconcile the two parties.

On Wednesday morning, armed herders surrounded the police of Shaeria city, against the background of the killing of a herder on Tuesday night inside the market.

The camel herders accused the police guarding the market of killing their son, threatening to carry out an attack on the police station if the accused were not arrested.

“Mediation by the Misseriya tribe from Netiga locality in South Darfur is currently seeking to find a consensual solution between the two parties” concluded Hassan Abdel Rahim.
