Nyala, Feb 16(Darfur24)  South Darfur State Security Committee has dispatched joint forces to the southern localities of the state to implement the security campaign that was initiated by the state government last week.

The second commander of the 16th Infantry Division, Brigadier General Saeed Bashir Ali, said that sending this force comes in implementation of the decisions of the Joint Supreme Council for Security Arrangements, which was held in El Fasher last week.

He stated that the force was entrusted with the tasks of closing the borders and preventing the movement of unlicensed vehicles, in addition to fighting crimes and negative phenomena to enhance security and stability in the southern localities of the state.

Speaking after a meeting of the local security committee in the presence of movement leaders in the locality on Wednesday Executive Director of Gereida locality, Muhammad Ali Arbab said  that Gereida locality continued to witness crimes by people claiming to be affiliated with armed struggle movements.

The dispatch of these forces coincided with the arrest of a joint government force in Gereida locality, 85 km south of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, who arrested members of armed gangs practicing looting and threatening citizens.

Muhammad Ali Arbab stated that the leaders of the movements disavowed the suspects who were arrested, and denied their affiliation with the movements.

Arbab cautioned that the local security committee has decided to ban carrying weapons, wearing kadmol, and firing bullets at social events.
