Nyala, March 15 (Darfur24) Hundreds of students took to the streets in the city of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, western Sudan, protesting  against the increase in the tariff of transportation and bread.

Darfur24 correspondent saw hundreds of students in the streets of Congo, along the intersection of Jebel Marra Street, in front of the governor’s house, and in the middle of the Nyala market.

The security authorities deployed dozens of military vehicles on the city’s roads, but they did not intervene today to disperse the demonstrations, unlike what happened yesterday, when they fired tear gas heavily to disperse the demonstrators.

Meanwhile, state teachers organized a vigil in front of Nyala Secondary School for Boys and the Ministry of Education and Guidance, denouncing the police forces’ assault on Nyala Secondary School teachers yesterday.

Activists circulated a video in which the policemen appear in a discussion with the teachers and another crying because of the police dealing with them. The video gained internal and external attention denouncing the attack.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, an investigation committee was formed to hold the force and its commander accountable for their entry into the school campus.
