Khartoum, May 14, 2022 (Darfur240The Sudanese Communist Party SCP has
accused the tripartite mechanism of supporting impunity for the crimes
and violations that the protesters were subjected to, and reiterated
its commitment to holding the perpetrators accountable.
The indirect Sudanese-Sudanese talks started on Thursday and included
separate discussion sessions that started with a meeting of the Forces
of the Declaration of Freedom and Change / National Accord, followed
by another meeting with the Forces of the Declaration of Freedom and
the Central Council and a third meeting that included the Democratic
Unionist Party.
The Sudanese Communist party sent a letter to the joint tripartite
mechanism, expressing its rejection of the invitation..
In its message, the party said, “There is no new reason to meet with
you after we explained to you in a previous meeting our position on
your efforts to negotiate directly between the political forces and
the military coup and political forces that were partners with the
National Congress until the fall of its authority in April 2019.”
In a statement, the communist party considered the mechanism’s
invitation as part of its plan for indirect negotiations, which the
communist party said after its efforts to negotiate directly failed.
the communist party statement continued, “As for us, we are committed
to not negotiating with the coup authority and with the National
Congress and its allies.”
The party considered that the mechanism made a mistake in dealing with
the Sudanese issue, in that it deals with it as a crisis between the
political forces and the military and should be resolved by
negotiation, and it does not see that there has been a popular
revolution that has been going on since the coup of October 25, 2021
aiming to overthrow the coup authority and establish a civil and
democratic state that achieves its goals in Freedom, justice and peace
