Nyala, June 5(Darfur24) Goods trucks coming from El Fasher, capital of
North Darfur, western Sudan, heading to Nyala, capital of South
Darfur, were looted by gunmen yesterday evening, Saturday, south of
Shangil Tobai area, in the border separating the two states.

One of the truck drivers, Ahmed Suleiman, told Darfur 24 that he was
looted, accompanied by three other trucks, by 5 armed men who were
onboard a Land Cruiser.

He stated that the gunmen took from them at gunpoint all their
belongings and money in their possession, and some goods such as
sugar, flour and fuel.

Ahmed deplored the delay of the security authorities in prosecuting
the perpetrators.

According to the South Darfur Highway Traffic Department, the number
of trucks and cars coming from El Fasher has decreased due to the
frequent looting on the road.
