August 5, 2020 (Nyala) The newly appointed civilian  Governor of South Darfur, Musa Mahdi, issued Thursday  a decree directing government forces to arrest everyone who participated, helped, aided or incited the incidents of destruction, looting, riots and illegal gathering in the city of Kass 85 kilometers west of the state capital Nyala last Friday.

The riot  led to the killing of an intelligence officer in the army and a citizen, in addition to burning the headquarters of the local police and the public prosecutor, and destroying the offices of the local government.

. However, the decree aims to put in place security measures to preserve the security and safety of citizens and their property.

The governor also directed the arrest of suspects and bringing them to trial under the Emergency and Public Safety Law and the Criminal Law in addition to any other law.

Government forces, under the Emergency and Public Safety Law, may enter any place or location within the geographical borders of the state, seize looted items and anything in violation of the law
