Nyala, June 19(Darfur24) Unknown gunmen killed this morning, the
forty-year-old farmer Bahruddin Ahmed, while he was on his farm in the
Umm Skakinat area, east of the city of Gereida, 86 kilometers south of
Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state in western Sudan.

The incident occurred while the dead man was on his farm in
preparation for the fall season, when a discussion took place between
him and the gunmen,  so the y fired a hail of bullets at him, killing
him instantly.

One of the relatives of the dead man, Muhammad Hamid, told Darfur 24
that the perpetrators fled east without being arrested, and  a case
was filed  at the Gereida Police Department, and the body was
transferred to the rural hospital to complete burial procedures.

The Director of South Darfur Police, Major General Mohamed Ahmed
El-Zein, confirmed to Darfur 24 the incident, and said that the state
government had sent forces to pursue the perpetrators, without
disclosing other information about the incident.

The southern  parts  of the state witnesses killings from time to
time, and its frequency increases at this time of each year when
farmers are involved in clearing  their farms in preparation for the
agricultural season.
