Khartoum, July 14(Darfur24)The Troika countries, (the United States of America, Britain and Norway,) stressed Wednesday the need to oblige the army and security forces to implement their commitment to withdraw from the political arena.

Troika said in a press statement seen by Darfur 24  that the army and security forces should end violence against civilians, and hold those responsible for unlawful killings and other violations and abuses related to human rights to account.

It also called on  political actors committed to the democratic transition to engage in an inclusive dialogue to form a civilian transitional government with a broad base across the country.

The statement  added: “This dialogue process must lead to an agreement that sets a clear timetable for holding free and fair elections, procedures for selecting a transitional prime minister and other key officials, and a mechanism for settling differences to help avoid any future political crises”.

The Troika announced its support for the trilateral  initiative to facilitate this comprehensive dialogue for the Sudanese, and said, “Three years have passed since Sudan began its transition to democracy, and we deeply regret the continued loss of life and the regression in the important progress achieved on the economic and political levels.”
