Nyala, July 21(Darfur24) Over ten people drowned and 13 others survived as a passenger car overturned in a seasonal river between North Kordofan and South kordofan.

 

According to a video circulated by activists on social media, the floods swept away yesterday a Land Cruiser  vehicle with a number of passengers on board,  some of them drowned  while the others  survived .

The executive director of Qadir Essam El-Din Anglo said that the vehicle had 23 passengers on board, the bodies of four people were found inside the car, while 13 survived, including the driver of the vehicle, adding that six people are still missing and are being searched for.

The Executive Director of Qadeer Locality attributed the accident to the driver’s recklessness and intentional crossing of the waterway, despite the citizens’ warnings about the strong flow of water from the creek.

Several areas of South Kordofan are witnessing heavy rains that have caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.
