Nyala, August 16( Darfur24) The local authorities in Um Dafouk area, South Darfur, issued  a distress call to rescue the citizens of the  town  due to the imminent threats due to torrential rains and floods that hit the state at the beginning of the week.

 

The torrential rains that hit South Darfur state, western Sudan, this week, affected the Umm Dafouk locality dam, 166 km southwest of Nyala, and the water broke the dam from the eastern part.

 

The Executive Director of Umm Dafouk locality, Omar Mohamed Musaed, told Darfur 24 that the city is threatened with complete inundation due to the rising water level and its entry into the eastern neighborhood.

 

The locality of Umm Dafouk is  sharing  border area with the Central African State, and the dam is one of the most important water sources for the city.
