Khartoum, September 13(Darfur24) The Sudanese Minister of Education , Mahmoud Sir Al-Khatim Al-Houry, announced the postponement of the start of the 2022-2023 academic year in the country until the second of next October.

 The minister said in a press statement that the decision to postpone the start of the school year was taken to allow states affected by floods  to rehabilitate damaged  schools.

 UNICEF and Save the Children said on Monday that 6.9 million children out of school in Sudan, 12 million boys and girls face instability in education, due to a lack of teachers, and the infrastructure situation in Sudan.

The social sector in the Council of Ministers reviewed at its meeting today a report on the preparations for the academic year 2022-2023 and the Ministry of Education’s plan for the year 2022 , which aims to accept all children of school age, complete the intermediate stage, develop technical education ,improve  curricula, and build and rehabilitate schools.
