Khartoum, October 24(Darfur24) The Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in the Blue Nile Region, Ramadan Yassin, revealed that more than 5,000 citizens have been displaced from Qaisan Governorate and Medina 8 to the city of Damazin as a result of the renewed tribal conflict in the region on Sunday, Monday 23-24 October.

 

Speaking to Darfur 24, Yassin said that the number of displaced people since the outbreak of the clashes in the region – last Wednesday – has reached 180,000 , as 5 thousand of them managed to enter the states of Gezira and White Nile, while the others fled to  various cities of the state .

 

He explained that the humanitarian conditions are very bad, and that they urgently need plastic sheeting, mosquito nets , blankets ,clothes  and fooditems.

 

He appealed to the government, UN agencies and international organizations to urgently intervene and provide support to all citizens affected by the incidents.

 

He indicated  that there is a shortage of medicines at the Medical Weapon Hospital, which receives critical cases and burnt wounded, most of whom are residents of villages 4, 2, 3 who belong to one tribal component.

 

He pointed out that there are other less harmful cases in the Shafei health insurance center.
