Nyala, February 15(Darfur24) Agbash gold mine in Radom locality, 416 km south of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, witnessed clashes between peaceful protesters and government forces, as a result of which 17 people were injured, one of whom was a soldier.

 

The executive director of the Radom locality, Abusan al-Ahimer, told Darfur 24 that the incident occurred when young miners protested against  the presence of Rapid support Forces RSF and police personnel in the   mining site.

Abusan  added: “the soldiers were forced to shoot at the protesters, which led to the injury of 9 people.”

 

He stated that the youth of the area demanded a few days ago that the Sudanese Mineral Company and Al-Junaid Company be suspended from work, due to the failure to provide any services to the region.

 

Darfur 24 learned from sources that the number of wounded exceeded 15, while a medical source in the Agbash region said that the health center received a number of wounded on Tuesday afternoon after being shot by government forces, and the source revealed serious injuries among citizens, most of which were transferred to the city of Bram and Nyala teaching hospital.
