El-Fashir , April 19(Darfur24) At least five civilians were killed and 30 others were injured, Wednesday, as a result of renewed armed clashes between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces RSF  in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

A medical source at El Fasher Hospital, south of Fadl, whose name was withheld, told Darfur24, “The hospital received more than 40 wounded people, including five dead.” He added that there are a number of serious injuries among the wounded.

The source indicated that the injuries were due to gunshots and shrapnel.

A security source attributed the renewed clashes in the city of El Fasher on Wednesday to a force of the Rapid Support Forces storming the police headquarters in the central section of the city in order to obtain military equipment.

He explained that the armed forces pursued the attackers into the city’s neighborhoods, which in turn led to injuries among civilians.

Darfur 24 correspondent monitored the sound of gunfire in the vicinity of the police headquarters, and also monitored the outbreak of fires in the Abu Shouk camp market for the displaced, as a result of a shell hitting one of the firewood boxes in the market, which prompted the displaced to flee from the market.

The neighborhoods of Al-Qubba, Al-Nasr and Dim Salik have witnessed the displacement of dozens of civilians, fleeing the fierce battles of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in El-Fasher, since the outbreak of the events at the beginning of this week.
