Khartoum, 4 September (Darfur 24) The Sudanese Armed Forces said that they had contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the handover of 230 members of the Rapid Support Forces who were captured during the war.

It was stated in a press release seen by Darfur 24 that thirty members of the Rapid Support Forces who were captured from the Republican Palace since the outbreak of the war would be handed over.

This is the first time that the armed forces have announced their intention to release prisoners from the Rapid Support Forces since eruption of war on April 15, at a time when the Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, accused the Sudanese army of liquidating prisoners from its forces, and stated in an audio recording on Monday evening that The armored commander, Major General Nasr al-Din, burned prisoners from the Rapid Support while transporting them inside the armored vehicles, and added, “The process of burning and liquidating the prisoners is carried out under the instructions of Al-Burhan.”

The press circular noted that there is another group of 200 members who will be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross when arrangements are completed with the committee’s representatives.
