Elfashir, 8 September (Darfur24)On Thursday, the governor of North Darfur, Nimr Abdel Rahman, launched a humanitarian appeal for relief for those fleeing to the city of El Fasher due to the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the areas of Kutum and Tawila and the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state.

Abdul Rahman told Darfur 24 that the number of displaced people who arrived from the city of Nyala to El Fasher exceeded two thousand families, in addition to thousands of people fleeing from the areas of Tawila and Kutum, in addition to the internally displaced people in the city of El Fasher itself.

He pointed out that these displaced people need urgent assistance before he appealed to the Sudanese authorities, represented by the Ministry of Finance and Manpower, United Nations agencies concerned with humanitarian affairs, international and national organizations, women’s and youth bodies, and philanthropic Sudanese to contribute urgently to address the humanitarian situation in the state, which is worsening daily due to the increase in fleeing people.

The authorities of the Darfur region say that those affected by the war in Darfur have not received any humanitarian aid since the outbreak of the war, which prompted the governor of the region to leave for the city of Port Sudan to meet federal officials regarding relief rations for those affected by the war in Darfur, at a time when the governor of North Darfur stressed the need to reopen El Fasher Airport to deliver humanitarian aid to those affected.
