Elfashir March 2(Darfur24) Darfur 24 has learned that extensive meetings were held between field commanders of the joint force of the armed struggle ( ASM) movements and commanders of the Rapid Support Forces(RSF), North Darfur sector, during the last period, which discussed the proposal for the two sides of the war to leave the city.

A source in the armed struggle movements revealed that the meetings were held at the headquarters of the World Food Program warehouses east of El Fasher, with the participation of Major General Support Sari’a Al-Nour Al-Qubba and Lieutenant Colonel Abbas Kattar, while Lieutenant General Al-Tijani Duhaib, Bahr Jazm, Fadl Suku, and others participated from the joint force.

The source said that the meetings discussed how the Rapid Support Forces would exit El Fasher, leaving the task of maintaining security and protecting civilians to the joint force, and opening the El Fasher-Kosti national road to deliver relief, commercial, and medicine convoys to the city.

The source stated that the meeting’s agenda addressed how the second party to the conflict, the “Sudanese Army,” would exit the city simultaneously with the exit of the Rapid Support Forces.

Commanders of the joint force justified the departure of both parties from the city after El Fasher witnessed more than 6 armed battles last February that left dozens of civilians dead and wounded, while the Sudanese army’s warplanes bombed the city more than 4 times within one month.

The source pointed out that the Rapid Support Forces did not express any approval regarding their exit or not, while a date has been set for another meeting next week.

The source confirmed that there were contacts with the Sudanese army leadership through some leaders of the armed movements to stop the aerial bombardment on the city, arrange for a safe exit of the army from El Fasher through the armed movements, and hand over the command of protecting the city to the joint force of the armed movements.

A member of the supreme leadership body of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army – Transitional Council, Nimr Abdel Rahman, said in a tweet on Thursday that “to preserve the lives of citizens, it is better and better, as a matter of wisdom and responsibility, for both sides of the war (the army and the Rapid Support) to leave the city of El Fasher so that we can preserve The lives of innocent, defenseless civilians.”

He pointed out that the repeated clashes in the city of El Fasher endanger the lives of large numbers of civilians and directly affect the lives of the displaced.
