El Fasher April 2 (Darfur 24)

A number of people were killed and wounded, at dawn on Monday as Sudanese Army launched airstrikes on the city of Kabkabiya, 136 kilometers west of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

Eyewitness Yahya Ibrahim Daoud told Darfur 24 that warplanes launched air strikes on the rural hospital in the center of Kabkabiya and fired a large number of shells at civilians in the residential neighborhoods located east of the city.

He reported that there was difficulty in transporting the wounded to the city of El Fasher because the road was blocked by armed men, which hindered the process of rescuing the injured.

Medical sources who spoke to “Darfur 24” called on the North Darfur state government to intervene immediately and deliver medicines after the intravenous solutions in Kabkabiya ran out.

This airstrike on Kabkabiya is the second of its kind in less than a month, as in mid-March the aircraft launched raids in which they fired three shells towards the headquarters of the 21st Infantry Brigade, which is controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, and the neighborhoods of Al-Harah and Al-Shati, which led to the destruction of a number of homes.

A local source confirmed to Darfur 24 that warplanes targeted Rapid Support Forces concentrations in the city of Kutum in North Darfur state.

In the city of El Fasher, a Sukhoi aircraft fired 8 missiles at the neighborhoods north and east of the city, at the sites of Rapid Support Forces concentrations and concentrations, causing fear and panic among the citizens.

The Rapid Support Forces responded with heavy anti-aircraft fire, with strong earthquakes caused by aircraft shells.

The raid launched at night on the city of El Fasher was the first this April. Last March witnessed 7 air strikes, 11 this year, and the 14th since the beginning of the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in April last year.

The Coordination of Civilian Democratic Forces “Taqaddam” condemned the aerial bombardment targeting civilians continuously since the outbreak of the war, and demanded that it stop and the artillery bombardment targeting the population stop.
