Fifteen people, including military personnel, four children and  three judges, were killed when an Antonov military cargo plane crashed minutes after taking off from El-Geneina airport heading to Khartoum.

According to Agence France-Presse, the plane crashed after transporting  humanitarian assistance to the victims of the tribal clashes that erupted in El-Geneina on Sunday , 29 December.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese armed forces spokesman, Brigadier Amer Muhammad Al-Hassan, confirmed on Thursday evening that the plane had crashed, adding, “We are gathering information now.”
