January 29, 2020(Khartoum) – The Sudanese Ministry of Health has now claimed two patients may have the deadly infection.

Latest WHO reports revealed that some 133 people have now died in China and more than 6,000 around the world have caught the highly infectious virus.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Akram Al-Tom, said  in a press statement, that there are two suspected coronavirus  cases in Sudan , one in Khartoum state and the other one in Al-Jazeera State.

“Both infected people came from China, one through Ethiopia, and the second one  through Egypt” said Dr. Akram.

Dr. Akram confirmed that the  suspected cases were identified through a monitoring  room at Khartoum Airport.

“ The disease is transmitted through  coughing, sneezing, or touching an infected person”noted Dr. Akram.

Addressing  the Cabinet, the minister of heath said he  is confident about the government’s capability to  deal with the infected people.

“There is no cure for coronavirus, in the same way that there is no cure for the common cold. Instead, those admitted to hospital are given treatment for their symptoms while their immune systems try to fight the virus off” added the minister of health.

“ The transmission of the disease for the first time was from animals to humans in China” concluded the minister of health.
