February 11, 2020 (Nyala) The Sudan Liberation Movement has  denied  reports that its founder , Abdel Wahed Mohamed Nour, headed to Khartoum on Tuesday.

Spokesman Mohammed al-Nayer, said  in a press statement on Tuesday that the  circulated  news  about departure  of the movement’s leader and founder to Khartoum  is baseless .

Al-Ain News Website, had earlier reported  that the leader and founder  of the Sudan Liberation Army, Abdel Wahid Nour, was leaving Paris  heading to Kampala, and from there to Juba and then to  Khartoum.

However, the  spokesman of the movement said the return of the movement’s leaders to Sudan is subject to the response of  the comprehensive peace initiative in Sudan. Adding that  the  movement’s initiative is  associated with the just solution of Darfur issue, and among the most important is the handing over of all wanted persons to the International Criminal Court.

Abdel Wahid Nour had  launched an initiative to transfer direct negotiations between the Sudanese parties hosted by the state of South Sudan to Khartoum.

His willingness to return to Khartoum to negotiate and achieve peace from within, a step considered  by observers as a positive shift in the positions of the movement.
