February 19, 2020 (Khartoum) The Sudanese Finance Minister, Ibrahim Al-Badawi, announced on Wednesday that the Friends of Sudan Economic Conference will be postponed to next June, instead of April, as scheduled.
In the Swedish capital, Stockholm, on Tuesday, the second conference of the Friends of Sudan group was held to discuss the situation in the country, and how to support Sudan during the next stage.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, that the minister of finance ,received promises from partners and friends to provide considerable support for Sudan.
“The donors’ conference will be held in mid-June, following the socio-economic dialogue in March which the Sudanese will agree on” added Ibrahim Albadawi.
Al-Badawi described Sweden’s meeting as very important, and revealed details of his meeting today with members of the Swedish international cooperation.
The group expressed strong support for the transitional government’s engagement with international financial institutions, indicating the transitional government’s commitment to improving the economic situation and preparing for debt relief.
The participants acknowledged reforms undertaken by the transitional government since it took office five months ago.

Friends of Sudan, welcomed the progress made, and the broad participation in the negotiations aimed at achieving peace.
They also sent a message of encouragement to the negotiating parties to continue the process in good faith and maintain a flexible and compromising approach in favor of peace.
