February 27, 2020 (Khartoum)  Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk has emphasized that structuring military and security institutions is necessary and essential.

“Structuring the army and security institutions is one of the transitional governments agendas, which stipulated in the constitutional document that governs  the institutions of transitional government” added Hamdouk.

The constitutional document limited the role of the security apparatus in gathering information and presenting it to the competent authorities without having the power to detain or arrest any Sudanese citizen.

Speaking at a  joint press conference with the German President on Thursday, in the Council of Ministers, Mr. Hamdouk said the  ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Juba require  action, given that the dialogue in Juba accompanies the axis of security arrangements that addresses the situation of the forces of the armed struggle movements.

Hamdouk Indicated that Juba negotiation,  provides an opportunity to address structural reforms in the country’s security and military institutions, which includes the army, police, intelligence, and rapid support forces.

The Prime Minister, responding to reporters’ questions, said that peaceful protest is a legitimate right and is stipulated in the constitutional document, expressing his hope that everyone will join forces to build Sudan.

“Our offices are open to everyone and we accept all forms of expression” concluded Hamdouk.
