March 1, 2020 (Elfashir) The High Representative of the European Union and Deputy Commissioner, Joseph Borrell, arrived Sunday in El Fasher, North Darfur State, accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes advisers and ambassadors of the member states of the European Union Mission in Khartoum.
Borrell, whose on a two-day visit to the country, started his visit to Elfasir , by holding a meeting with the government of North Darfur, and then making field trips to the Zamzam IDP as well as getting acquainted with the humanitarian needs.
The European Union has allocated 100 million euros for the transitional government in Sudan in support of peace and democratization programs as well as supporting economic opportunities for youth.
Fontelles, whose visit to Sudan is the first in Africa, described his meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk on Saturday as “fruitful”, saying that the meeting sent a strong and clear message that the European Union supports the country’s democratic transition and economic reform.
