April 25, 2020 (Zalengei) The coordinator of Displaced People in Darfur, Adam Rijal , told Darfur24 that a 17-year-old girl ,had been raped by a Sudanese armed forces officer inside her family’s home in Tor area , Central Darfur state. ” The Sudanese army lieutenant who is attached to 16th Infantry Division in Kass , South Darfur state, monitored the movements of the girl and followed her as she was moving from the market on her way to her family’s home”Rijal said ” He reached at her family’s accommodation, taking advantage of her relatives absence to rape her at gunpoint”added Coordinator of displaced people. “When the neighbors learned, they rushed to the crime scene and filed a suit at the police in the city Nartati under Article 45 of the Sudanese Criminal law, after conducting a medical examination for the victim in Nertati Hospital” Further added Rijal.
“Rape and sexual harassment crimes against minors are still continuing in Darfur region, especially the displaced women in the camps in Darfur “Adam Concluded.
