July 8, 2020 (El-fashir) Over 28 Doctors at  Al-Fasher Teaching Hospital in North Darfur, embarked on indefinite strike on Wednesday, protesting over the hospital’s failure to pay them financial incentives.

State ministry of health ,had promised to pay incentives for medical staff, as a compensation for their heroic stands, during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic in the city of Elfashir.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development in the state, paid in the last days, financial incentives that ranged between 30 to 20 thousand pounds for a number of medical cadres in appreciation of their efforts in dealing with  Coronavirus.

The director general of the hospital, Dr. Abdullah Yusif Korma, told Darfur 24, that the strike was caused by the delay in the payment of financial incentives for doctors.

As of the time of this report writing, there was no statement or clarification from the doctors about the strike, as many wards and hospital departments were left without general practitioners and specialists.

“The hospital’s financial capabilities are limited, and  the hospital cannot bear the payment of these amounts to all doctors” Dr. Abdullah Yusif cocluded).
