July 14, 2020 (El-fasher) The government of North Darfur, has declared a state of emergency all over the state from today Tuesday, until further notice, against the background of the  incidents in  Fataburno
and Kutum areas,  west of El Fasher.

In a statement seen by Darfur 24, the state government confirmed that it would  pursue the  suspects and  bring them to justice, adding that  the state of emergency has been declared  to ensure the success of the basic  schools  exams, impose state authority  and the rule of law.

Over the  past two days,  Kutum and Fataburno areas in North Darfur, have witnessed escalating security tensions against the backdrop of sit-ins similar to what happened in Nertati area in Central Darfur
State.

Meanwhile, the angry protesters who were demanding provision of security and disarmament of militias ,   clashed with  police forces, then burned and destroyed  a number of government institutions
buildings and cars.

In a related development , on Monday,  armed militias on motorcycles and four-wheel drive  vehicles, attacked   the town of fataburno, 16 km west of kutum ,killing 9 people and wounding 14 others.
