2021-08-09 On Thursday, the United Nations revealed the displacement of more than 5,000 people from the Sortney camp for displaced people in North Darfur to Central Darfur, as a result of the armed conflict between government forces and the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahed Al-Nur.

According to a report by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the displaced people  from Sortony have begun to arrive in Central Darfur. An inter-agency mission visited Golo and Spanga in North (North) Jebel Marra locality, Central Darfur, to assess the needs of the displaced people.

The report indicated that priority humanitarian needs are food, shelter, non-food items and health assistance.
