September 21, 2021(Khartoum) The Sudanese authorities have thwarted a coup attempt by senior Sudanese military  officers  trying  to seize power in the country.

The foiled  coup attempt was carried out by military officers in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum.

 

The Transitional Sovereignty Council announced the failure of the coup attempt and the arrest of a group of officers, while  State TV broadcasted a brief statement by the media advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Dr. Al-Taher Abu Haja, in which he stated that the Sudanese army had thwarted a coup attempt.

 

According to Reuters, the coup  attempt began with an attempt to control the State  radio.

 

Earlier, a member of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council, the official spokesman for the council, twitted , calling on  the Sudanese people  to take to the streets , defend the country and protect the transitional period, and then added another tweet in which he said that things were under control.

 

It is expected that a joint statement will be issued by the components of the transitional government, after the meeting of the Sovereignty Councils and the council of Ministers, which is being held at these moments in Khartoum.
