El-Daein, June 16(Darfur24) Government authorities in East Darfur have
arrested Darfur24 reporter, Muhammad Saleh Al-Bishr against background
of publishing news about armed clashes in the eastern regions of the
state.

Mohamad Salih told Darfur 24 that a police officer called him and
asked him to come to El Daein police station, and informed him that
this procedure was directed by the designated wali, Mohamad Adam Abd
al-Rahman.
Al-Bishr stated that the security authorities had previously filed two
cases  against him under Articles 64, inciting hatred, and Article
166, violating privacy of the Sudanese Criminal Code.

Last May, journalist Muhammad Salih al-Bishr quoted two leaders from
the Rizeigat and Maaliya tribes as saying that there had been clashes
between gunmen from the two tribes due to the theft of livestock,
which resulted in the death of one person.

While Darfur 24 newspaper published a denial of the news by the Deputy
Governor of the Darfur region, Dr. Muhammad Issa Aliw, less than 7
hours later.

At the time, the authorities summoned Muhammad Salih al-Bishr and
investigated with him about the news , and released him.
