Port Sudan , August 23(Darfur24) A conference on eastern Sudan will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Sudanese capital Khartoum , amid rejection and boycott by the Supreme council of Beja.
The head of the preparatory committee for the conference, Ibrahim Ismail Jameh, stated that the conference is being held at the invitation of the alliance of eastern Sudanese parties, civil forces and resistance committees, and all actors in eastern Sudan were invited without any exclusion.
However, the Supreme Council of Beja announced its rejection of the conference, and the political secretary of the Council, Sayed Abu Amneh, confirmed that the Council would not participate in this conference, and considered it a mere gesture , and described it as just a meeting of people supporting the eastern Sudan path in the Juba Agreement.
He added that the Supreme Council of Beja is the only body authorized to speak on behalf of the eastern Sudan region.
The head of the preparatory committee for the conference pointed out that all the initiatives proposed in Sudan are absent from eastern Sudan, so it was necessary to hold this conference.
