El-fashir ,October 2(Darfur24) The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock  said the agricultural pests that  spread all over  localities of the state in North Darfur threaten the agricultural season .

 At a time, the Ministry complained about the lack of mechanisms and pesticides to combat these pests, in addition to the lack of technical cadres specialized in spraying and controlling locust and beetle pests.

Director of the Plant Protection Department, Muhammad Othman Abkar, told Darfur 24 that the locust and beetle pests are among the most common pests that attacked agricultural crops this season, in the localities of Al-Fasher, Mellit, Kalimando, and Umm Kadada, and the ministry has only 250 liters of pesticides.

The Director of the Plant Protection Department explained that the control operations through the spray and spray carried out by the ministry covered only an area of 8 hectares, 50% of the areas affected by locusts and beetles.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Darfur Regional Government, Salah Hamid, announced the launch of a major campaign in the coming days to combat agricultural pests. The minister discussed with state officials plans to protect the agricultural season from agricultural pests and security breaches.
