The African Union and the United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has expressed concern  over the tribal conflict in West Darfur that left 65 people dead and approximately 54 injured, displaced thousands of civilians, destroyed shelters and burned villages. 

In the statement ,UNAMID condemned  the violence and called for the need to resolve differences in a peaceful and friendly manner, and called on all parties to refrain from the use of force, especially against the civilian population, including women children. 

The statement referred to the  loss of life and injuries among civilians, widespread displacement and deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in El Geneina and the surrounding area. 

UNAMID called upon the relevant government authorities to maximize their efforts to establish a protective environment and restore peace and order in and around the greater El Geneina community.

UNAMID relocated a total of 32 UN and NGO personnel to Zalingei, Central DarfurA, to ensure the safety of United Nations and UNAMID personnel.
