February 8, 2020 (Khartoum) Sudanese negotiations on  Darfur and East Sudan   resumed in Juba  Friday  , while talks with SPLM-N- Alhilu will kick off  on Saturday.

Two weeks ago, South Sudanese mediation team  suspended negotiations between the Sudanese transitional government and the armed struggle forces in Darfur, South Kordofan, and the Blue Nile, until February 4, with the aim of further consultation.

Negotiation sessions were delayed  due to the repercussions of the visit of Sudanese Transitional Council Chairman Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan to Entebbe, Uganda, and his meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, , Lieutenant General Shamseddin Kabbashi, officially announced on Friday  resumption  of negotiation sessions on east Sudan at Palm African Hotel.

Kabbashi stressed that peace is the strategic and first goal of the institutions  transitional period, saying that the government delegation has returned to Juba more determined and committed  to achieve peace. Pointing out to the   participation of delegations from forces for freedom and change to support the negotiation process

For his part, Tut Qalwak, head of  South Sudan Mediation team, explained that the government delegation had discussed with President Salva Kiir,   Sudan  and South Sudan peace files as well as  briefing him  on the progress of the negotiations currently taking place in Juba.

“Talks have come a long way in most of the negotiation tracks,  the negotiating parties are expected to reach the final agreement soon”Concluded Tut Qalwak.
