February 9, 2020 (El-Geneina) The Local Security Committee of Al-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, decided to close six markets in the city, from six thirty in the evening until six thirty in the morning.

The decision to shut down the markets, came  at the backdrop of the incidents that had recently  taken place in those markets .

Al-Geneina city witnessed repeated  tribal attacks in markets and night gathering areas , that  resulted in  injury of a number of people and looting of  many others.

On Friday, two people were killed in two separate incidents in El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, while two others were injured after being stabbed with a knife, one of them,  son of a senior officer in the Rapid Support Forces.

A letter issued by the administrative officer of Al-Geneina locality, Abdel-Moneim Sheikh El-Din, said that the local security committee decided to close six markets, from six thirty in the evening until six thirty in the morning, starting on Tuesday, February, 11, 2020.

“Anyone violates this decision will expose himself to legal punishment” concluded the letter.
