March 7, 2020 (Khartoum) The African Union announced on Friday that it has launched a campaign at all levels to remove the name of Sudan from the American list of state sponsors of terrorism.
On Friday, Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, ended a two-day visit to Sudan during which he held talks with state officials.
Faki discussed with Sudanese officials, the success of the ongoing peace process with the armed movements as well as creating appropriate conditions for the elections and organizing them in a transparent and fair manner.
Speaking at press conference, at the end of his visit to Khartoum, the African official said that peace is one of the priorities of the transitional period, praising the efforts made by the Sudanese parties in the ongoing peace negotiations in Juba.
Chairperson of the African Union emphasized the African Union’s readiness to support the peace process in Sudan, noting that his current visit comes to determine the situation more than six months after the signing of the agreement between civillians and military actors.
