April 23, 2020 (Zalengei) Leaders of Rizeigat tribe have held five-day meetings in Zalingei, Central Darfur state, to discuss the possibility of ending and settling disputes between Deputy Chairman of
the Sovereign Council ,Mohamed Hamdan”Hemeti and the Tribal leader of Mahameet clan Musa Hilal. Deputy Nazir of Rizeigat Mr. Saeed Madibou, chaired the series of meetings, which were attended by a number of leaders from the three clans (Al-Mahameed, Al-Maharia, Al-Nawai’ba), as well as the leaders
of the Rapid Support Forces in the five states and about 140 dignitaries. One of meetings participants that ended on Wednesday, preferring to withhold his name, told Darfur 24, that the meetings concluded with
a recommendation to end the dispute between Hamidti and Hilal, release of the latter, the civilians and the two soldiers who were arrested with him. However, the meeting recommended payment of compensation and Deia (blood money )to the families of the dead and wounded, and those affected by the conflict, alongside keeping Rapid Support Forces in Mastariha area (hometown) of Musa Hilal.

Moreover, the agreetment also recomended the cessation of all forms of provocation between the various clans of the tribe. It’s worth noting that Musa Hilal, alongside a number of his tribemen and supporters, were arrested in November 2017 in Masrariha area in North Darfur state, after armed clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and gunmen near Musa Hilal hometown of Mustariha that led to the killing of Brigadier Abdel-Rahim Jumaa Daglo. However, the clashes had been triggered by the former regime’s descion to collect unlicenced firearms and unregistred vechicles .killing of Juma Daglo(brother of Hemeti) and the arrest of Musa Hilal, caused a great division between the two clans of Rizeigat tribe, from which the two men descended, and created a social and racial division between the Mahamid and Mahariya clan.
