UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan, Babacar Cisse, condemned the recent killing of three aid workers, one of them with his family, in the context of inter-communal violence in West Darfur.

He also expressed grave concern over the escalation of violence in West Darfur, and urged all concerned to stop the violence immediately. The violence resulted in many casualties, property destruction and population displacement.

The United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator stressed the need for the safety and security of people receiving aid and those who deliver it, and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable.
