State Police Commissioner , Major General Hasab Al-Rasoul, said that police forces had arrested three gunmen along with a number of demonstrators who were caught looting and vandalizing in the market of Nyala city.
Hasab Al-rasoul told Darfur24 ,that armed groups had infiltrated among the demonstrators and confronted the police forces with live ammunition in exchange for tear gas canisters fired by the police forces.
He revealed that 8 policemen were wounded, some of them with gunshot wounds, confirming that there were no deaths among the demonstrators..
Governor of South Darfur, Musa Mahdi, declared a state of emergency and a 48-hour curfew in the city starting Tuesday evening, saying that he had declared a state of emergency and a curfew so that the security services could control the situation inside the city.
