Darfur 24-Nyala

Doctors’ union at Nyala Teaching Hospital has accused the governor of South Darfur, Musa Mahdi, of not being serious enough to find a solution to the causes of the doctors ’strike in the incident departments, which has entered its sixth day.

The Union said in a press conference Tuesday ,that it met with the state security committee headed by the governor and handed it a list  of  problems that forced them to strike and ways to solve them, chief among them the protection of medical  cadres by providing military force inside the hospital.

“More than 48 hours have passed since the meeting was held  and no protection forces have been deployed  at the hospital” , the committee added.  A member of the Doctors Union, Dr. Ammar Ahmed Al-Obaid, called on the citizens of the state not to hold them responsible for the strike and its consequences, and said the main reason for the strike is the lack of protection for doctors.
