Jebel Marra , August 5(Darfur24) The Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid Mohamed Nour, confirmed that it was not behind  the armed ambush that killed 5 government soldiers on Wednesday night, including a police officer, in Central Darfur.

 

The patrol, which includes forces from the army, rapid support and police, was subjected to an armed attack on Wednesday night in the Geldo area in Central Darfur state.

 

Local media had quoted government officials  accusing  Abdul Wahed movement of carrying out the attack the led to  the killing of 5 Sudanese government soldiers .

In a statement seen by Darfur24, military spokesman Walid Muhammad Abkar Tungo said that” the group that carried out the attack is a militia that the military government knows well”, according to the statement.

 

The military spokesperson pointed out that the group is led by Bahr Hassan Hammadi, Jama’a Abu Saleh, Siddiq Gedo, Muhammad Abdel Aziz and others, revealing that the two cars seized by the faction are located in an area southwest of Kabkabiya in North Darfur.

 

The movement’s statement said that the same faction seized, last July, a car belonging to the locality of Rokero, north of Jebel Marra, and the seizer was carried with  the knowledge of the government and its security services, without moving a finger.

 

The movement denied its  involvement in the attack on the patrol, saying that the area in which the ambush took place is outside its control and that it does not have a military presence near it.

 

The movement’ spokesman said  that the movement’s forces did not attack any force, whether governmental or non-governmental, for its adherence to the decision to stop hostilities, which the movement’s leadership renewed several times.

 

The Sudan Liberation Army movement, headed by Nour, controls parts of Jebel Marra, where the movement refused to negotiate with the transitional government and adheres to the overthrow of the military regime.
