A number of senior International relief workers said ” the people of Sudan have drowned in s war that destroys their lives and their country and violate their basic human rights”

In a statement issued Tuesday by leaders of the joint permanent interagency committee that includes UN humanitarian agencies and other partners working in the humanitarian sphere .

The signatories of the statement which was issued to coincide with the elapse of four months of the conflict in Sudan, said “the residents of Sudan witnessed killing of their loved ones, women and girls subjugated to sexual assault and families saw their belongings being looted and their houses burned to ashes.”

They affirmed that residents facing risk of death, because they can’t access health care and medicinal services, while children have become ” between clutches of dooms owing lack of food and nutrition.

The international leaders of the humanitarian agencies working in Sudan three messages to the Sudanese people, warring parties and the international community.

To the Sudanese people ” The International humanitarian community still committed to support you, through the work of those who respond to your needs at the local level. they were at the forefront of the exerted efforts to provide food, seeds, water, shelter, health, nutrition, education medical care and protection for the needy from the beginning.

They affirmed to continue incessant work to reach all population throughout the Sudan and provide them with supplies and basic humanitarian services .

Signatories of the statement called on the parties to the conflict to pause fighting and ensure protection of civilians and facilitate unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid as well as removing bureaucratic hurdles.

They said” attacking civilians, looting humanitarian aid, subjugating relief workers and civil properties and the infrastructure, including health centers, hospitals, hindrance of humanitarian aid delivery are prohibited in accordance with the provisions of the international humanitarian law IHL and and International Human rights law and may amount to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity”

Message to the international community:

“The is no excuse to justify waiting” adding, more than 6 million people in Sudan are on the brink of starvation,and over 14 million children need humanitarian assistance, while 4 million people were forced to flee their habitual residence, some internally displaced and others crossed borders to neighboring countries.

Indicating that time is running out for farmers to plant crops that will feed them and their neighbours and the medical supplies are sparse .

The statement stressed that the international community should shoulder it’s responsibility today, and participate at all levels and work to return Sudan to right track and put an end to the war..

Catastrophic impact of the war:

For his part, UN commissioner for Human rights Folker Turk denounced the catastrophic impact of the war in Sudan.

In a statement issued Tuesday he said” the catastrophic and unjustified war in Sudan triggered by brutal conflict over power has killed thousands people and destroyed thousands of Houses, schools, hospitals and other basic services institutions.
