Nyala, October 26( Darfur 24)

The Rapid Support Forces RSF announced on Thursday that it had captured command of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur States.

The fall of the largest army command in the west of the country into the hands of RDF comes after a long siege and violent battles that have continued since the start of the war between the two rival forces last April.

RSF spokesman said that their seizure of the 16th infantry Division in Nyala means controlling the second largest state in the country after Khartoum, in addition to their control over the other states in Kordofan, Darfur, and large areas of the Jazira, the White Nile, and the Nile River.

However, the Sudanese army did not issue any statement this morning regarding the fall of Nyala Army headquarters into the hands of RSF i, but the official spokespersons for the armed forces, Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah, said yesterday evening that the soldiers of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala were able to repel RSF attack on the 16 army infantry Division snd inflicted them heavy losses in lives and equipment.

The battles for control of the Army Command in the city of Nyala were led by the Second Rapid Support Commander, Lieutenant General Abdul Rahim Dagalo, who appeared two days ago in video clips among his troops near the Army Command headquarters in Nyala.
