El Geneina, Jan26( Darfur 24)The Ministry of Health in West Darfur State confirmed that 63% of the total 240 health institutions have returned to providing treatment services to patients in the various localities of the state.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in West Darfur State, Dr. Abdul Salam Mustafa Saleh, said in press statements yesterday, Wednesday, that the wars that West Darfur State witnessed affected more than 86% of health institutions, and this led to their complete collapse after being exposed to devastation and destruction.

He added, “Our communication with the Federal Ministry of Health has been cut off, and we have not received any federal support since January 2023.”

He stated that the Darfur regional government transferred West Darfur’s share of medical devices, equipment and medicines to refugee camps in eastern Chad.

Pointing out that the state government has made great efforts during the past period, in coordination with organizations and initiatives, to open hospitals and health centers.

He explained that more than 63% of hospitals and health centers now provide health services in the state’s localities.

He pointed out that all departments in El Geneina Hospital are working, and that the wounded of the events in the Ardamta area between the army and the Rapid Support have undergone treatment by a foreign medical team affiliated with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
